The series «Don’t Translate Me» was created in 2023. The first two works are numbered and don’t have titles, while the current piece is called «Your Bedroom.» I felt it was important to share the story behind the series.
Each piece took over six months to create, and I didn’t plan everything out in advance. Instead, they developed alongside me, inspired by my thoughts, dreams, experiences, feelings, and stories. I prefer not to go into too much detail about the content, as I believe that if I had wanted to write everything down, I would have done so instead of painting.

What happens when words lose their meaning? How does perception shift when two different translations coexist? In a world where communication is often ambiguous, what is said is not always the same as what is understood. Two subtitles, two perspectives – yet only those who understand both languages can perceive the distortion.
Are translations always accurate in what the media conveys to us? Can language truly allow us to explore and understand the world of others? What remains when we can no longer trust the words we hear? Can we ever fully grasp the reality of another, or is meaning always filtered through the lens of the translator? Is there such a thing as objective truth in language, or does it slip away as soon as we try to grasp it?
Spiegelei invites you to explore the subtle cracks between language, meaning, and perception. What remains when truth slips away, and we can no longer trust the words? How do we navigate a world where meaning is fluid and constantly shifting?
